The Missing Element
A surprising discovery in the ocean.
The shadow in the lift of the wave right before it’s white caps crash caught my attention. After three rolling waves I knew it was a sea Turtle floating in the blue and green.
Standing there gazing out over the ocean knowing that a few feet away on the other side of the rocks were sea lions and turtles was an energizing realization.
At 54 it’s a gift to be surprised by first times. Catching sight of all the life under the waves snorkeling in Kauai was full of them.
Swimming with fish that you’ve only seen on a screen or in a saltwater fish tank definitely peels off some of the hardening crust on aging hearts.
But one thing that never entered my mind was fear.
I know the warnings, heard the lifeguards policing people swimming to far this way or that, but anxiety wasn’t there. Just pure pleasure awaiting each dunk under the surface. The only requirement was discovery and joy and that is an amazing gift.
And that’s how God made it to be.

What a gift!
